FINAL REFLECTION
I will like to share my final reflection based on my research paper.
In Eng 103 it has helped me on how to properly write a research paper. I really loved the fact on how the professor created a research speed dial. The research speed dial is where you gather most of your sources. The articles and library was a great help because of the information they had. It was a first for me to gather information from other sources but google or wiki..... this was plus for me because it expanded my knowledge.
My understanding of college research level was a little hard, but as the professor explained and broke down ways on how to write your paper with the right sources, was really beneficial.
My advice to future students is to use the research speed dial, it does help you find scholarly articles that you will need to complete this course. Do not concentrate on just using 1 or 2 links, try to use all of them in order to gather as much information possible. Always email yourself the sources as a backup. I wished that I had more time to write my research paper and not rush through it. Also, I tried to stick to Nexis/lexis but found that EBSCOhost worked better for me.
I would not have changed on how I gathered my information for my research paper. But I would have liked to have expanded the idea to use all the sources, and not have given up by using 1 at the beginning of the class. As I got the hang of going through newspaper articles, and scholarly sources it was a great experience to have read knowledgeable information that was easy to understand.

Blog Assignment #2
I will be sharing what my viewpoint when watching "Concussion" for my research paper.
In the film Concussion, Will Smith plays the role of Forensic pathologist Dr.Bennet Omalu who is the main character. Dr.Bennet was concerned and raised public awareness about chronic traumatic encephalopathy, a disorder that causes brain trauma in football players. In the film, Dr.Bennet starts with examining his patents by talking to them. He has a particular of way examining the bodies by using different tools because he feels its less messy. I felt that how he analyzed the bodies with special care and respect is very compassionate of him. It shows how as a doctor he is being thorough with his work and because of that, he discovered a disease that's harming athletes. He is an example of how doctors should take special care of their patents, and not rush and care just about the money.
In the film shows how Dr. Bennet is a helpful and caring person. Another character that was shown Dr. Julian Bailes who treated and helped Mike Webster a football player, by prescribing pills. I felt different when watching this scene because Dr. Julian wanted to help but, didn't know what was wrong with his patent. He did examine him but nothing abnormal was showing in the CTE exams.
In the scene that I felt where Dr. Bennet did an autopsy on Mike Webster, he decided to look at past exams and perform new ones because he felt something was wrong. There was no explanation on why Mike was suffering from headaches, violent behavior, nausea, and hearing voices. He chose to look into Mike's profession as an NFL player and examine many videos and newspaper articles.
This scene shows how Dr. Bennet puts together his theory how a human brain that goes through many hits causes brain damage. Dr.Bennet voice's out how human beings don't have any protection against collision and that's how Mike Webster past away.

Blog Assignment #1
Hey everyone, I will be sharing in what my research paper is about and give a brief introduction of some resources of my paper.
The research paper will introduce on how CTE ( chronic traumatic encephalopathy) was discovered and the victims. The movie Concussion introduces us how NFL players have been diagnosed with CTE due to severe head injury. NFL had chosen to ignore the well being of their players and never tried to help them find a treatment or the cause. In my research paper, I will discuss how the NFL players struggled with many medical problems and how one man tried to fight against NFL organization.
This man Dr. Bennet Omalu discovered and wished to help treat the NFL players in their suffering.
One of my sources describes how there are victims (athletes) that have a short lifespan due to head injuries. Other athletes have also suffered by being deprived of sleep. A group of ex-NFL player has decided to file a lawsuit against the National Football League because safety issues were not their main concern. Much mental illness were being discovered in the NFL players such as memory loss, dementia, depression, Alzheimer, Parkinson's, movement disorder, suicidal ideation, and mood/behavioral problems.

Finally, the second source that has caught my interest is a book by Dr. Bennet Omalu who discovered CTE. The book title is "Truth Doesn't have a side". Even though I have not finished the book but read one chapter and read reviews, Dr. Bennet is introducing his background and how he discovered CTE in the brain of American football players. It also explains the causes and sysmptoms of CTE. Also how Dr. Bennet stresses the fact that we should keep children safe and how he was concerned for athletes.
