Blog Assignment #1

Hey everyone, I will be sharing in what my research paper is about and give a brief introduction of some resources of my paper.

The research paper will introduce on how CTE ( chronic traumatic encephalopathy) was discovered and the victims. The movie Concussion introduces us how NFL players have been diagnosed with CTE due to severe head injury. NFL had chosen to ignore the well being of their players and never tried to help them find a treatment or the cause.  In my research paper, I will discuss how the NFL players struggled with many medical problems and how one man tried to fight against NFL organization.
This man Dr. Bennet Omalu discovered and wished to help treat the NFL players in their suffering.

One of my sources describes how there are victims (athletes) that have a short lifespan due to head injuries. Other athletes have also suffered by being deprived of sleep. A group of ex-NFL player has decided to file a lawsuit against the National Football League because safety issues were not their main concern. Much mental illness were being discovered in the NFL players such as memory loss, dementia, depression, Alzheimer, Parkinson's, movement disorder, suicidal ideation, and mood/behavioral problems.

Finally, the second source that has caught my interest is a book by Dr. Bennet Omalu who discovered CTE.  The book title is "Truth Doesn't have a side".  Even though I have not finished the book but read one chapter and read reviews, Dr. Bennet is introducing his background and how he discovered CTE in the brain of American football players. It also explains the causes and sysmptoms of CTE. Also how Dr. Bennet stresses the fact that we should keep children safe and how he was concerned for athletes.
